Your Arsenal:
Left to Right: Off-Brand (and super dirty) Beauty Sponge, Eyelash Curler, Ecotools Brushes (blush brush, powder brush, eyebrow tamer, eyeshadow brush, and angled brush). |
Step 1:
The very first thing I do is make sure my face is completely moisturized before applying any makeup. Since I took a shower before I applied my makeup today, I used my Simple brand Moisturizing Face Wash in the shower. I bought it at Target for maybe $6, and I love it!
Step 2:
Now onto actually applying the makeup! I always start off with BB cream. I just moisten my beauty sponge, squeeze some BB cream onto the back of my hand, then gently dab it onto my face. Make sure you're getting into all the nooks and crannies like the side of your nose and under your eyes with the smaller end of the sponge.
Once the BB cream is nice and even, I take the Urban Decay Concealer and draw a triangle under my eyes. What I mean by this is draw a line from both the inner and outer corners of your eye, and connect them at a point on the top of your cheeks, so it resembles a triangle. This will get rid of any dark circles under your eyes.
Then I go over my face and make sure there aren't any spots I want to cover up. If there are, I just put a little dot of concealer over it. GO EASY ON THE CONCEALER. With this stuff, less if definitely more. You don't want to look cakey. Now I take the same beauty sponge from before and dab the concealer until it is fully blended.
Hang on to the bronzer, blush, and highlighter. We'll use that at the end.
Step 3:
Eye time! First things first, get your eyes nice and primed with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I just wipe a little bit of product onto my eyelid directly from the little wand. Rub it in with your finger and make sure you cover all the way up to your brow bone.
While the primer is setting, go ahead and get to work on your brows. My hair is red, so I like to make my brows a dark red/auburn, even though they are naturally dark brown.
I begin by brushing the hairs upwards and to the side until they are nice and tame.
***For red brows, I take my Mac lip pencil in Auburn and very lightly fill in the brows. Don't get it too close to the edges or it's going to look super obvious and way too red. The red will blend in with the other brow product, making it look subtle***
Then I use my angled brush and dip it into the Anastasia Dipbrow. I wipe the excess off on the back of my hand. Gently line the bottom of your brows, making sure you leave a defined arch. Repeat this process on the top of the brow, and on the other side. With the same brush, fill in your brow without adding any new product. Blend the outlines into the center to fill it in. Take your eyebrow brush once again and brush the hairs.
Add some concealer to your brow bone (underneath your arch) to make them brows pop!
Step 4:
Now that your eye primer is set, use your eyeshadow brush to coat your lid with the Urban Decay shadow all the way up to the crease. This just adds a little bit of shimmer to your lids.
Since my eyelashes are very long and droop down, I depend on my eyelash curler! If you're comfortable using it, then go for it! Otherwise just put a light coat of mascara over your lashes.
Congrats! Your eyes are complete! Now lets do some finishing touches.
Step 5:
The last step to completing this look is to use your bronzer, blush, and highlighter. I use the large powder brush and swirl it around in the Physicians Formula bronzer. I sweep it across my cheekbones, down the sides of my face, along my jaw, and my hairline. This helps with adding color that you lost when applying the BB cream in Step 2.
Then I take the Santee blush kit, and I swirl the blush brush in the pink only (I don't love the bronzer color it comes with, so I just ignore it). I lightly stipple the brush on the apples of my cheeks. You don't want too much, just a light flush.
Finally, take the Watts Up highlighter and spread it on the length of your nose, and above your brows. This will light up your face, making you look bright and alert.
Slap on some tinted chapstick, and you're ready for battle (ahem, I mean action)!
